"MOXIE GUINEA PIG RESCUE"
(When we lived in CT our rescue was known as"Mrs. Dolittle's Guinea Pig Rescue")
I feel it important to explain a few things.I have done Guinea Pig Rescue OVER 20 years.I started in the late 80's and officially est.
Mrs. Dolittle's Rescue in 1994.We have helped,saved,and placed dozens and dozens of piggies. It has also been totally at
our own personal expense and for the love of Guinea Pigs. In CT it was fairly easy to find and place our piggies in wonderful
forever homes.However,here in NY has been a different story.We resumed our rescue when we moved to Broome County
in 2005. I had taken in several pigs our first year here.The last 3 I took in 2006 where 2 sisters and a Black male we named "Onyx".
Well, we were not told they had not been kept in separate quarters as they were kept with us.A month or so later BOTH the
girls continued to grow bigger and bigger.Next we knew,BOTH the girls had 5 babies! So,now our rescue was at 17! Then the
terrible June 2006 flood hit the area.As you can imagine, it was incredibly bad times and difficult to find loving forever homes
for this many piggies,BUT WE DID! After that, we only TOOK IN very rarely,on a case by case basis.We let the Humane Society
know that we were now for "Adoptions Only" and could not keep doing "Intake" as it is just never ending in this area and WAY to
hard to place so many Guinea Pigs.This is where our rescue has remained since then.However now, given the circumstances
surrounding the now Sept.2011 flooding we realize the desperate need for help for some residents.ANY OF YOU NEEDING A PERMANENT HOME FOR YOUR GUINEA PIG WE WILL DISCUSS THIS WITH YOU ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS.
